Gispen, W.H.
Industrial designer Willem Hendrik Gispen founded in 1948 a little pottery factory in Rijswijk, produced decorative art pottery: vases, bowls some with and some without figural decoration. Painted with mud, decorated with sgrafitto technics, gloss glaze & lamps. Mark/backstamp: WG of WHG.
The decorative art pottery of Gispen was his best work, the daily use pottery was of a moderate quality, for example at the light green glazed dinner sets the glaze came off and the pottery cracked, even the triangles were visible. After 6 months Gispen sold his unfortunate factory.
Mark: signed with W,H,G. Very famous for his furniture designs.
