Brouwer's Aardewerk "Vredelust", NV Fabriek van

Willem C. Brouwer, pottery factory called Vredelust, created art pottery in Art Nouveau-style, clay modelling, (after 1927 almost only) building- & garden ceramics in terra cotta. Brouwer's: pure handicraft potters techniques, like the hand turn and moulding work, slipware, sgrafitto and stamp- en inlay techniques, with folk pottery as his inspiration. Mark/backstamp Brouwers Handwerk Holland.

Clay and mud decorations or even an impression of his thumb. W.C. Brouwer designed at the potter's wheel, co-workers produced the piece in relatively cheap series. Art pottery, the pottery shape and the (stream) glazes as decoration became one, inspired by oriental ceramics, in calm nature colors.

In 1920/30 in series produced Art Deco crackling flowervases and pots. Worked at Brantjes and Goedewaagen. His art work was sold at the best interior-shops. His sons proceed the business after his death in 1933.
