Decorative artist Theo Nieuwenhuis had his own workshop/atelier for decorative art (1908), presented as designer of De Distel at the National Exhibition of the Dutch Potters Art in 1916 with carduus & sgrafitto-designs, tile-sceneries. Nieuwe Kunst/New Art' artist with Lion Cachet.
Made engraved decorated vases with drip-technics. Human beings- and animal- figures formed an unity with flora and fauna. The decoration on pottery was the most important thing for Nieuwenhuis. Mark/backstamp: mix of N and T.
