Decorative Art & furniture store Metz & Co, sold Gouda pottery in cooperation with the general agency for complete Holland of Liberty & Co, London. That is why this famous store was sometimes called Liberty. Sold a.o. work of  W.C. Brouwer. Mark/backstamp see picture.

Frederik Regout' kitchenware pottery, was in competition with other Regout familymembers and created confusion by marking his ceramics with a lying lion/elephant in stead of the sphinx and the P was replaced by a F. In 1896 the Frederik Regout Firm merged into CV Petrus Regout & Co..

Long tradition of mass production of kitchen/dinnerware Maastricht' pottery. Started in 1834 as Pottery Factory Petrus Regout, converted into CV Petrus Regout & Co in 1879, which was named De Sphinx voorheen (formerly) Petrus Regout & Co since 1899. Mark/backstamp see picture.

Sphinx-Céramique NV       


Sphinx-Ceramique, mass production of sanitary and tiles. Received the title Royal/Koninklijk 1959 in honour of the 125 year existence of this pottery factory, named than NV Koninklijke Sphinx. Hotel porcelain dinnerware Hilton designed for the Hilton Hotel Amsterdam in 1962. Take over Pottery Factory de Toekomst in 1960. In 1969 she closed down her kitchenware and hotel porcelain department. Mark/backstamp: Royal Sphinx Maastricht Made in Holland.

After World War II mass production by extreme mechanization, first complete dinner sets, later on contemporary (big demand) cups & saucers with black/white dots outside, pastel colours inside, sold under name Eastwood in Engeland.
